Look at your typical SWD set up and you’ll see it’s pretty common to run all of the field devices -- the safeties, the controls, the kills -- through a PLC.
There are a number of advantages to an alternate setup though — running everything through a VFD instead. From increased uptime to easier, less expensive maintenance, a drive can transform the performance of your entire field.
